Sunday Night

Hi again, trying to make for not posting anything for two day. So today I post two entries. As the weekend comes to a close I find that I did nothing special, no special trips anywhere. No special people met. Nothing to brag or rave about. Which I guess is good, so there is no bad news to report. I had hoped to do something this weekend, take the camera out for a walk or ride, it is asking to go out or will lose it’s will to produce images. Ha, ha never happen. As I have been saying since I started this blog it is hot and after a week of being out in it, it seems that I have no big int rest in going out in it again. As the new work week looms ahead I hope and will pray that I do what is right and harm no one, this is a daily prayer for me these days. Only time will tell what the week will bring. Since I did not win the Lotto I am forced to hit the streets of downtown and make a living, no complaints on my part, just a wishful thought on the Lotto part. Well I have two photos to share with you this evening, the first is a bird that was intent on warning others that there were hoodlum cats about. When I opened the back door to let the fur people go out for a little while, this guy spotted them and sounded the alarm for all in the area. Don’t know what kind of bird it is, but I can tell you it is a bird. The second photo is of a farmers field which is burning up in this prolonged dry spell and heat spell we are going thru right now. Around here a lot of farmers are just plowing their crops under, they no other choice. It is a shame as the landscape around here is brown a burnt brown. With a little bit of luck and prayer the rains will fall. Again as always I hope you like the photos. Take care and may your week be a good one, with little troubles and a cool breeze. Pete

Hello again, as has been my way lately I have not made entries for the past couple of days. Partly because I could not think of anything witty to put down and mostly due to laziness. Well I am back for those of you who come by and check on this from time to time first off I thank you for doing so! This means a lot to me! Second off I hope that you are enjoying my photographs? Well on with the jabber first. The trend of O MY GOSH ITS HOT! Is still going on and will for as long as it wants, so no need to complain or dwell on it. Friday was a good day at the job with few problems and some nice people to boot. Saturday was a real lazy day, nothing done over nothing done. That speaks loudly enough right there. Well let’s move on to the photos. I submit a couple of photos for your viewing pleasure (very creative phrase). These are from downtown and were taken with a P&S camera, please do not hang me for using one, but it is easy to carry around at work. I hope that you enjoy the photos and mostly I hope that your upcoming week is filled with fun, sun and love! Pete

Warm Wednesday
July 9, 2009
Another day has passed into the history books, another page opens for today. Could be a good day and should be a good day! Wednesday was again to say the least warm (Na, just dam hot!) The work day was a good one with few problems. My aunt was laid to rest Wednesday in Upstate New York, I tried very hard not to think about it but was unsuccessful. But as I see it now, she is not suffering any more. The past few years must have been the most difficult on her body, she has gone thru much and now can rest and visit with family and friends who have passed on. She is loved by many and will be missed. Thanks Aunt Lucy and LOVE YOU! Did not get any new photos on Wednesday so you will have to do with one from my archive! Yes an old photo, but that moment is frozen in time for all to check out, mainly hope you enjoy the photo. Until next time, stay safe, stay cool, and be yourself! Pete

Thrashing Tuesday
July 8, 2009
Hello, another day down in the books. It was a thrashing kind of day today for us in the downtown area. The Shriner’s are in town for a convention and they held a parade thru the downtown area. This meant a lot of work for us in getting ready for it and getting people in the right places and doing the right things. Thankfully it went well and most importantly if it were not for the efforts of my co-workers and team it would/could have been a mess. I am most thankful for their help and for telling me to take it easy. As far as the rest of the day, it was alright nothing to bore you with so I wont! I would like to bore you with 2 photos from today. One from the downtown SA area and the other from home. First this evening the sunset was wonderful, I wish I could have been someplace else, but have to pay rent, so have to work. This photo is of the Hemisphere Tower in downtown. I like it and hope you will also? The second photo is of my herd at the house. I got them while they were waiting for a drink from the sink. They got this from there mom, she always wanted a during from the sink and would sit and wait until I was done washing up and drink, I think they got the idea from the womb cause since they have been big enough to get on the counter they do it. I also hope you enjoy there photo. have a good day and stay cool. Pete

Muggy Monday
July 6, 2009
Howdy All, the start if the work week has passed and the rest of the week looms ahead. As has been it is another muggy, hot day for us. The day was good without any problems or scuffles and I am thankful for this and many other blessings which have crossed my path. My mind goes back to NYC and the wonderful family I have. Although I have been not the best in keeping in touch with them, I do think of them with love and respect. I guess the feelings are the hardest at this moment for the loss the family is going through right now. My cousins are going thru a very tough time and I can not provide for them any help from here. I guess that at best they are in my prayers and thoughts. I have asked the Good Lord to walk with them right now and guide them thru this most difficult time. There is more that can be done, but time will tell what that is. I know that they will make it thru the sorrow and rough road ahead and be stronger and full of life after this. I just hope, pray and wish that they know that I do love them!
I have no new photos to share for today, but will share an image shot during the past year. Again I hope that you enjoy the photo. Please come back and see what is new. Pete

Sunday Sadness
July 5, 2009
Hi all, as the weekend comes to a close and Monday looms quickly ahead I find that this entry will be somewhat sad. Today I received a call from New York and was informed that one of my Aunt’s passed away on the 3rd of July. I am told that she passed away quietly and in peace. I am grateful that she did not suffer, but have know that she has gone thrumuch in the past few years with medical treatments and other family issues and I know that I did not help out. I can not change what has been put in the books for the past, but I am sorry for being selfish and to myself for too long. I make no promises of turning over a new leaf or anything as such. For I find when one makes those promises and does not keep them it only hurts worse. I will attempt to do what is right and that is only thing that someone can expect from each other. Aunt Lucy is a wonderful women, who in my youth attempted to take over for my mother when she went thru tough times, when a favorite hobby horse of mine broke, she went and found another, I was told years later that the brat (me) did not want the replacement, but she went ahead and go it for me anyhow. She tried to keep me on the right path as my grandma also did, sometimes I would listen, but most times I would not. Somewhere in life I got smart and started to do the right things, maybe not always as fast as should have been done but it has been done. I have many happy images in my mind and heart of Aunt Lucy and her two children Laura and Linda. In our youthwe tormented each other with all sorts of crazyantics, but way down, there is love. The loss of their mom is great for she cared for them and loved them with such a hugh heart. I don’t think that kind of love comes often in one’s life, but it was nice to see that much love for my cousins and me from such a wonderful lady. There may have been times when we disagreed about somethings and being a hard headed male I did not wish to let anyone win one on me, all I can say is that I did wrong and am sorry. I have a image in my heart and mind I will share here, I think right now my Aunt Lucy is sitting down to a Sunday Dinner in God’s House this evening with her mom (my grandma), her two sisters Josephine (my mom) and Rachel plus their older brother Peter Jr and the food that is on that table could feed an army and has. When Thanksgiving came along in our younger days, all would show up in the projects off 1st Ave & 104th St in Manhattan to prepare the meal, my grandma would make rice & beans and other dishes from Puerto Rico and my mom Aunt Lucy and Rachel’s would make some mean spaghetti, meatballs and just help grandma with all the other stuff, turkey too. Uncle Pete was usually away in the Military defending us all. But what a meal was made on those Thanksgivings. I know that on this Sunday they are sitting down to one of those grand meals right now. I love and miss you all, Grandma, Mom, Aunt Rachel and Lucy and Uncle Pete. God has you in his arms today and forever.
Pete
I have no photos of my family back in New York that are in digital form that I can share with you today, but when talking to my cousin Linda early today she asked me to give a kiss to my three cats for her mom, as Lucy always liked cats, so I share a photograph of my three fur people to honor Aunt Lucy on this day. Love you all, Pete

Hello all, I do not know how many come by to see this blog of mine, but I will work hard on making this a goo, so for those who come by to see the photos and read my rants thank you so very much. I have the thought and desire to stay in touch with you! Well as always it was a hot one again in South Texas and it should be it was the Fourth of July. I was thinking of the soldiers and sailors who are far from home on this day, not able to be with friends and family and who miss out on the BBQ. I want to thank them all for what they do for us so that we may enjoy this freedom. The photo’s below was taken during a air show at Kelly Field here in San Antonio, I was working that day getting people to and from the flight line to enjoy the show. But I was able to grab a few fast images. I hope you enjoy the photo.

Well I just wanted to extend my thanks to all who serve today from an old retired soldier, “I was once a soldier, I am always a soldier” I hope that your Fourth of July was a good one spent with family and friends, that the food was good but the company you spent it with was grand! Have a safe and cool day, more to come later. Pete
Friday Fireworks
July 4, 2009
Welcome again, another work week has come and gone and I made it through! Friday was a good day, busy at work but not overwhelmed. Spoke with many very nice folks while downtown and hope theirs and your 4th of July is a good one spent relaxing with family and friends. I think my day will be spent just finding something to do.
After many months the downtown area of San Antonio has it’s beloved Walgreen’s Drug Store back. The reopening of the store was done on Thursday and many old time residents of downtown are happy to see it back. This Walgreen’s has been on the corner of Houston St and Navarro for over 50 years, it is somewhat of a landmark and looks very fine. A whole new building. Well that is what today’s photo is. I attempted to recreate a photo I saw once from the 1950’s but was unable to do so. I have included a B&W and color version.

And here is the B&W version. I hope you enjoy both versions and my photography. Have a great 4th of July and a safe one. Pete

Wednsday Wonders
July 2, 2009
Well back from the lazy, took off Tuesday for no good reason, so that’s why there is no entry for that day. Well let’s press on; Wednesday was another hot day for the city, think the temperature got up to 104, but I do think I shall look slimmer after this summer which would be a good thing. It was a busy day on the job, I was kept hopping from one side of town to the other. I am not complaining as it was just the right kind of busy, the correct mixture which makes the day go by in a quick fashion. Before you know it, it is time to clock out. Well I unable to get any new photos yesterday, but will none the less share and image for you to gaze at. On this note of photos, I did a dumb thing yesterday before leaving for the city. I was getting my camera ready to go and placed the bag on the kitchen counter, YES you guessed it bamm I hear a sound and look back and the bag with contents are on the floor. I check the camera out and find no outward signs of damage and turn it on and find that the metering system is way off, no program mode and the like. I am hoping and the like that I can get it repaired. So if you are kind enough for me, please keep your fingers crossed! Well enough of my tears, on to the photo.

Hands Up, Caught you stealing the base!
This image was taken earlier this year at one of Texas State’s home games in San Marcos, yes I know it is a Texas Tech player in the image, but is the beauty of it, a Texas Tech player trying to steal a base on Texas State, never happen! If you can not tell I am Texas State fan. I enjoy getting out to the games and eagerly await next season to begin!! These young ladies and the coaching staff are a joy to watch, such spirit and talent! Well until the next time, as has been said before may a cool breeze be at your back and your friends be at your side. Pete
